I joined the Strategic North Graduate Scheme straight from university, where I’d spent 4 years studying Biomedical Sciences with Industrial Experience. From day one, the training has been incredibly organised and well thought-out to ensure that we are equipped with all the tools we need to assume the role of an analyst when we reach the end of the Graduate Scheme. In addition to the training we are receiving, we’ve also had exposure to multiple live projects, for which I feel our input has been welcomed and genuinely valued. A unique aspect of working as an Analyst for Strategic North was the extensive training received which has offered me the necessary skills to approach every project confidently. During training, I had multiple opportunities, including to have mock interviews with doctors, run mock workshops or write discussion guides and questionnaires, which will help me tremendously in any future qualitative or quantitative work.

However, whilst completing the training, I was also given the chance to work on real life project, which has entailed liaising with different stakeholders to ensure the smooth running of the projects, analysing complex information and turning it into valuable insights.This distinctive culture at Strategic North which encourages people to push themselves and take on many responsibilities has helped me gain valuable
transferable skills.

My role as Head of Finance & Business Operations is very varied which makes every day interesting. I have been able to establish the finance function and put many of my skills into practice whilst further developing my knowledge. My role as Senior Research Operations Manager is extremely interesting and challenging, no two days are the same! I work closely with the team across various research and strategy projects to ensure they are delivered within time and on budget. We have the freedom to get involved at all levels to help improve our understanding of the business and the industry. The culture is a very important part of working at Strategic North, we have a very strong sense of team and are encouraged to help and support each other, having a flat non-hierarchical structure gives us the chance to ‘have a go’ at various tasks and roles.
